Happy 2nd Birthday Gemma!

Yesterday was Gemma's 2nd Birthday!  WOW!  Where does the time go?  It's amazing how much she's grown and changed in the last few months...let alone 2 years!  She is so funny and clever.  One of her favorite things to say is "chill."  When Chris gets mad (usually while driving in Houston traffic) she'll say, "Chill dad, chill!"  She loves to twizzle and sing.  Her favorite song now is "Let it Go" from Frozen.  She never sits still and her mouth never stops moving!  She is full of sunshine!

A special thank you to Aunt Megan for making the trip down for Gemma's party, and to all of our friends who came too!  Thanks for making Gemma's day special!

PS: I usually post to the blog from my phone (my primary camera these days), so I just realized the photo on the home page is of our old house...on 56th Street!  I need to take a photo of our new house and possibly change the name of the blog...can I do that?  But first I need to plant some color out front and get a couple ferns!

Pre-Weekend Project

I recently acquired 2 "new" rocking chairs from our next door neighbors who just moved this week.  I asked them if they would want to sell the chairs to me, but they just gave them to me instead!  Sweet!  I felt like no southern porch was complete without rocking chairs on it!  The chairs needed a little bit of a face-lift, a life outside had not been kind to the wood.  I love all bright colors and I had a hard time deciding what color to paint them.  Our shutters are black and I though that might be a more classic look, it was hard for me to walk away from the aqua spray paint.  (Gemma wanted to paint them pink.)
