Day Trip: Great Salt Plains

A few weeks ago we took a trip to the Great Salt Plains in Northwestern Oklahoma.  The Great Salt Plains are amazing!  You really don't feel like you are in the middle of farm country Oklahoma.  All you can see for miles is white.  The main reason for our trip was to dig for selenite crystals.  There are a certain type of selenite crystals that are only found in the Great Salt Plains of Oklahoma.  These crystals have a unique brown hourglass shape inside the crystal.  We had so much fun!  Gemma enjoyed digging in the dirt (future geologist?) and exploring with Dad and Vito.  

OSU Football

We had a great time at the football game with our friends Jacob and Maria!  (We are so excited to live closer to them!!). Gemma was so good during the game, she loves all the action.  We rode a train to Reliant Stadium (most fun ever), met Pistol Pete (Gemma was not a fan), listened to the Spirit Band and cheered on our Pokes to victory!

This week we were in Houston.  Chris had to work here, we've been doing some house hunting, and we are going to cheer on our OSU Cowboys today as they play Mississippi State here at Reliant Stadium.  We stayed across the street from a mall with a great play area, as you can see Gemma really enjoyed herself!

Gemma and the Otter

We spent the morning yesterday at the zoo, where we met a very friendly river otter!

Braums

One of the BEST things about Oklahoma is Braums Ice Cream!  On hot afternoons (more frequently than I'd like to admit) Gemma and I like to enjoy a scoop of ice cream.  Today was the first day Gemma deviated from her usual vanilla....to a girls real best friend, chocolate.  

Wondertorium

We went to the Oklahoma Wondertoruim in Stillwater today.  It was so much fun!

There are sooo many different play stations; our favorite was the sushi/stir fry kitchen. 

Summer Fun

It is HOT in Oklahoma!  We spent some time yesterday afternoon kicking it in the pool!

Ready for Swimming!

We are taking swimming lessons at the YMCA, and Gemma LOVES the water!  Her favorite part of class is when she gets to jump in the pool...my little dare devil!  We don't have any pictures from class, but here are a few of her sporting her super cute swimsuits.

San Antonio

I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since my last post...so sorry!  

We have been very busy lately.  We spent a week in San Antonio, then a few days in Houston.  Then we stayed with my mom for a weekend. We just got home from visiting Chris' mom and sister in Louisiana.  Gemma is a really good traveler, she loves seeing new places...just like her parents! 

 In this post I will share our pictures from San Antonio.  We had such a fun time, we stayed a few days with my cousin Penny and her family, then a few days in a hotel on the River Walk.  We visited Sea World, the San Antonio Zoo, and strolled along the river.  It was Fiesta Week, so there were parades and carnivals.  We all had a blast!  Chris had a meeting in Houston, so we just skipped over there and spent a few days.  We visited our long lost best friends Maria and Jacob Bynum, and the Downtown Houston Aquarium.
